Aromatherapy Massage Oil

Aromatherapy has been said to be beneficial both physically and emotionally for the one subjecting himself or herself to it. The art has been practiced for thousands of years and even up to today, aromatherapy is still being actively used by modern individuals.

Aromatherapy has been associated with several other branches of alternative medicine. In fact, some even consider it as a complement to alternative medicine and that it serves to enhance the benefits of alternative medical practices. Aromatherapy is also used in conjunction with massage therapy and even herbal medicine. For purposes of this article, we shall focus more on aromatherapy as it pertains to massage, covering such important topics as its therapeutic benefits and aromatherapy massage oils.

The Basics of Aromatherapy Massage

You probably already know what a massage is so there’s no need for us to delve deeper into that. In fact, all you really need to know about aromatherapy massage oils is that they are used to enhance your massage experience further.

Just imagine, lying down on your stomach or back, getting all those painful muscle aches and cricks relieved through a good massage and all the relaxing fumes and scents of aromatherapy massage oils entering your lungs and stimulating your brain. Nothing could be more relaxing or soothing, especially if you’ve just been through a particularly hectic week of endless work and sleepless nights.

The aromatherapy massage oils certainly help but no matter how effective the oils may be, they can’t replace the effect of a good and proper massage. That being said, below are some guidelines you might want to follow if you decide to pamper yourself or your partner with a good massage, coupled with some aromatherapy massage oils.

DON’T try to use hard or painful pressure while using aromatherapy massage oils. Hard pressure is good but only if you know what you’re doing. And besides, gentle movements are most effective anyway, especially in the long term.

DON’T directly apply aromatherapy massage oils and hard pressure on bones. Also, don’t try to massage areas that have been fractured.

DON’T massage the abdominal area of someone with stomach problems. Also, never apply aromatherapy massage oils on someone who is pregnant. Remember that aromatherapy massage oils can be very concentrated and during a massage, they can be absorbed by the skin.

DON’T use aromatherapy massage oils on areas that are infected or injured. This goes without saying that aromatherapy massage oils may have negative effects on the injury, worsening it.

DON’T ever try to “crack” someone’s back. Leave this part to a qualified professional.
